CAZEO MINUTES
April 4, 2007 Meeting
MINUTES: THE CAZEO meeting was held on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Yankee Silversmith Inn in Wallingford, CT. The meeting began at 9:39 a.m.
MINUTES:
A motion was made to approve the February 7, 2007, minutes; the motion was seconded and approved.
TREASURERS REPORT:
A motion was made to approve the Treasurer’s report; the motion was seconded and approved.
CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE:
John McCahill presented 4 (four) Certified Zoning Enforcement Technicians certificates for the following people:
Kim Grooves
Susan Bartlett
Joe Goeschel
Melissa Gill
Congrats on their certification. John McCahill also talked about the up and coming classes at Central Connecticut on April 12 – 16th and Joe Larkin will be the instructor. John also will be working with Central Connecticut over the summer for the fall classes.
LEGISLATION UPDATE:
Past President Bruce Driska talked about the House Bill No. 7041, concerning removal of tremble damages for ZEO’s issuing fine citations. The new wording would read single damages as opposed to tremble damages. There were 19 yea votes thus far. Bruce Driska will keep us posted.
MEMBERSHIP:
Cindy Dunne, CAZEO Membership Director informed the organization that there are 154 paid CAZEO members.
SPEAKERS:
Stephen Byrne, Esq.
His talk was an overview of easements and the various types. How they are created and the role of the zoning enforcement officers in dealing with them.
Richard Meehan, P.L.S.
His talk was on site plans regarding different types of easements and how to read them on site plans.
John Rozum and Emily Wilson from UCONN’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department and The Center for Land Use Education and Research.
Their talk was about balancing growth and natural resource protection.
