Assistant Town Planner/ Zoning Enforcement Officer--Town of Rocky Hill, CT
The Town of Rocky Hill is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Town Planner / Zoning Enforcement Officer. This is a highly responsible professional position with considerable independence in directing Planning and Zoning functions of the Town. Town Planner--Town of Woodbury,CT
Works under the supervision of the First Selectman and adheres to the policies of the regulatory land-use agencies - Zoning Commission, Planning Commission, Inland Wetlands Agency, Historic District Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals. Coordinates and administers the land use regulatory process; maintains necessary plans and mechanisms to guide the appropriate development of the Town; performs managerial duties related to staff and budget. Provides supervision and delegates work responsibilities to the Enforcement Officer, and administrative staff.
A Bachelor’s Degree in municipal planning or closely related field; Master’s Degree preferred. Must have at least five years’ experience in municipal planning. Preference given to AICP certification and previous supervisory experience. Certification by CAZEO, DEEP Municipal Inland Wetland Commissioners Training Program or CLEAR a plus. 35 hours per week. Salary range between $58,000 to $61,200 based on experience

Compliance Officer – Part Time
Hours: 20-25 hours per week

Incumbent provides technical support to the planning staff, which includes regular inspections of construction projects for regulatory compliance; tracking progress of development of projects for compliancy with conditions of approval; supporting the enforcement of zoning regulations and ordinances, where applicable; and assisting with the maintenance of planning records, subdivision and special permit filing coordination. Confers with property owners, developers, contractors, engineers, and architects on construction compliancy matters and answers questions regarding code requirements. Assist with the inspection of properties for potential violations to the Town’s blight ordinance.

This is responsible technical work involving the enforcement of land use zoning regulations.
Work involves responsibility for identifying and documenting zoning regulations violations and for enforcement administration. Duties include review of zoning applications, inspection of premises, issuance of permits, investigation of complaints, preparation of enforcement documentation, and coordination of enforcement activities. This position is also responsible for making standard zoning enforcement technical decisions. The Town of Groton currently has an opening for Code Enforcement Officer/Planner 1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Planning or related field with two years’ experience in municipal planning, construction inspection, wetland, or zoning/code enforcement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in land development and regulation, ability to recognize constructions violations and/or hazardous conditions, ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, ability to enforce regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with commissions, contractors, property owners and the general public. Zoning Official--Town of Westerly, Rhode Island
Starting Salary: $25.64 - $30.77 per hour on a 37.5 hour work week.
The Zoning Office manages the permitting of all applications for Zoning Certificates, Sign Permits, and Commercial Parking Lots, as well as the processing of Dimensional Modifications and Zoning Board of Review Applications. We provide Staff support to the Zoning Board of Review and also assist in the registration of businesses with the Town (Certificates of Ownership). Town of Wilton,CT-- Environmental Analyst
Town of Wilton seeks Environmental Analyst, to work under the immediate supervision of the Director of Environmental Affairs, to perform the following functions:
Reviews permit applications and analyzes activities and land development for natural resource impacts;
Interacts with Federal, State, and other local agencies on matters related to surface and ground water quality, open space management, inland wetland regulations, wild life, and other natural resource issues;
Advises and assists the Town in acquiring land and other property rights for conservation and environmental purposes;
Assists in the preparation of applications for funding programs to preserve and/or restrict the use of open space for conservation, recreational, or environmental uses and applications for conservation related project grants;
Works with and advises groups and organizations, such as schools, scouts, clubs, libraries, and service organizations on environmental issues;
When required, represents the Director of Environmental Affairs at meetings of other boards, agencies, organizations, and the general public and attends meetings, including evening meetings, when directed by the Director of Environmental Affairs;
Provides assistance and information to other Town agencies and the public relative to inland wetland and conservation issues and procedures;
Serves as staff to the Inland Wetland and Conservation Commissions as well as the Deer Committee and Tree Committee and carries out the Commissions'/Committees’ policies;
Administers and enforces the Town's Inland Wetland Regulations and monitors regulated wetland activities;
Investigates conditions constituting violations of wetland regulations and permits and makes recommendations regarding appropriate enforcement; and
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Affairs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO INCLUDE:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field and at least one year's experience in natural resource management;
Proficiency in word processing and database software;
Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software;
A valid driver's license;
Knowledge of and ability to apply principles, concepts, and practices governing inland wetlands, watercourses, open space uses and values, and natural resources;
Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and standards relating to the environment;
Ability to review and interpret drawings, plans, and environmental analysis;
Knowledge of and ability to utilize ESRI ArcGIS to manage and analyze data and create maps;
Physical ability to reach job sites for inspections and to take water and soil samples which may include bending, lifting, stretching, and climbing;
Ability to express ideas clearly in both oral and written forms;
Ability to use personal computer based work processing and database software including permitting software;
Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups and individuals; and
Ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy in dealing with other employees and the public and to provide accurate, timely, and courteous responses to public inquiries.
