Vacancy is in the Planning and Economic Development Division of the Development Services Department. Under general supervision, participates in the implementation, regulation and enforcement of the City's zoning code. Examines applications for zoning permits and determines if the application and plans submitted conform to all the provisions of the zoning ordinance. Confers with and advises property owners and their agents concerning the provisions of the zoning code and their applications. Prepares reports as requested, on a variety of zoning matters including the Director's recommendations on matters coming before the Planning & Zoning Commission and desirable changes in the zoning code. Enforces the zoning code including the issuance of notices of violation, citations and related administrative actions. Conducts zoning inspections to determine violations and secures compliance of both provisions of the zoning code and decisions of the Planning & Zoning Commission. Conducts inspections prior to issuance of certificate of occupancy to determine whether construction has been completed in accordance with zoning permit. Coordinates zoning enforcement activities with other City departments include, but not limited to Police, Fire, Health, Corporation Counsel and Blight. Maintains comprehensive list of records relative to zoning enforcement activities EnerGov and available electronic resources. This may include periodic reporting to city council, land use boards, and/or neighborhood revitalization zones (NRZs), which typically convene in the evening. Provides staff support to land use boards as needed, will include an evening meeting at least once a month. Performs related work as required. This is a union position. The hours of work for this position are 40 per week and the above salary includes 5% in lieu of overtime. Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some travel to different sites.
