The professional designation of Certified Zoning Enforcement Official (CZEO) was established in 1982. To achieve certification, each eligible candidate must pass through a rigorous and comprehensive forty-eight hour Certification Program, and subsequently prepare a case study.
Most recently, CAZEO now offers a Certified Zoning Enforcement Technician (CZET) designation. It is geared towards the front end clerical and administrative personnel, this certification follows the same course load minus the case study.
Both certification programs were designed by the association and are administered through the Center for Public Policy and Social Research at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in New Britain, CT.
