City of New Haven, CT-- Deputy Director of Zoning. 

SALARY MINIMUM: $70,359 ANNUALIZED

NATURE OF WORK:

This is professional planning work involving the supervision of the activities of the zoning section of the City Plan Department. Work involves responsibility for the planning, administrative and legislative aspects of the city’s zoning ordinance and map, and is performed with considerable independence. Work includes supervising a small staff of technical assistants and close coordination with the office of the Corporation Counsel on legal matters and with the Zoning Enforcement Officer. Supervision is received from the Executive Director of the City Plan Department who also reviews the work through conferences and reports.

Town of Westerly, RI-- Part Time Enforcement Officer

Overview
This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical duties in support of the Town’s local code enforcement program by monitoring and enforcing a variety of applicable ordinances, codes, and regulations related to zoning, land use, nuisance housing, building codes, health and safety, blight, graffiti, and other matters of public concern, and serves as a resource and provides information on Town regulations to property owners, residents, business, and the general public.

What You Should Bring
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in code enforcement, zoning or planning. Experience must include experience in enforcement of local codes, laws, regulations, ordinances, charter or other regulations. You will have a bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

 The Opportunity
The Code Enforcement Officer works in the Department of Development Services. This position has a 20-hour work week.  Some of the responsibilities are as follows:

  -Performs a variety of field and office work in support of the Town’s local code enforcement program by enforcing compliance with Town regulations and ordinances.

  -Receives and responds to citizen complaints and reports from other agencies and departments on alleged violations of Town zoning and related municipal codes and ordinances by interviewing complainant and witnesses and conducting investigations and provides recommendations for resolution.

  -Conducts field investigations by inspecting properties for violations and attempts to make contact at the residence or business in order to resolve the violation and issues and post warning notices and orders to comply and related documentation for code violations.

  -Prepares evidence in support of legal actions taken by the Town and appears in court as necessary to testify at hearings and in court proceedings as required.

  -Maintains accurate documentation and case files on all investigations, inspections, enforcement actions, and other job-related activities including accurate and detailed information regarding code enforcement activity to substantiate violations.

  -Prepares a variety of written reports, memos, and correspondence related to enforcement activities.

  -Provides support and acts as primary point of contact for other departmental initiatives.

Salary
The salary for this position is $20.00 - $24.00 per hour, with a 20-hour work week.

Town of Newtown, CT--Land Use Officer

General Statement of Duties
Performs duties related to the administrative, investigative and interpretive activities to enforce all of Newtown Land Use Regulations.
Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision of the Director of Planning and the Deputy Director of Planning and Land Use with regard to interpretation and enforcement of the positions’ responsibilities. Also receives guidance and direction from the Senior Land Use Official
Examples of Duties
INLAND WETLANDS AND FORESTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and authorize Permit applications in accordance with Inland Wetlands & Forestry Regulations.
Investigate and report on any Inland Wetlands & Forestry Regulations violations for possible enforcement action, and issue Notice of Violation, Cease and Desist Orders and Citations.
Conduct field inspections for compliance with Inland Wetlands & Forestry Regulations Permits, and Cease & Desist Orders.
Performs other related duties as directed.
ZONING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review, research and authorize zoning permit applications in accordance with Newtown Zoning Regulations.
Performs field inspections of sites for compliance with Newtown Zoning Regulations.
Investigate and report on any zoning violations for possible enforcement action, and issue Notice of Violation, Cease and Desist Orders and Citations.
Performs other related duties as directed.

Salary: $55,900

Town of Glastonbury, CT--Compliance Officer, Part Time

Under the broad supervision of the Director of Planning and Land Use Services, the Compliance Officer provides technical support to the planning staff in the Department of Community Development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing field inspections, enforcing land use regulations and ordinances, and assisting in the review of land use applications. Work involves completing reviews of approved building sites prior to the issuance of a building permit, and inspecting for compliance with erosion and sedimentation control measures and other permit conditions. Incumbent makes routine enforcement decisions and coordinates the filing reviews for various land use projects.
